About Agriculture Extension

Agriculture Extension is the application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education.

This Department is mandated with Teaching, Research and Extension Education in the subject of Agricultural Extension, especially in the jurisdiction of Goa, through Colleges, Research Stations like CCARI (ICAR).

The objective was teaching students in the discipline of Agricultural Extension to generate manpower for helping farming community and raising agricultural production and molding attitude about innovations, technologies and activities.

The department of agriculture extension offer 10 courses for undergraduate programme and coordinates Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program (RAWEP)

Courses Outcome

Students learn fundamentals of Agriculture Extension and understand the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence rural communities. This knowledge can be used to develop policies and programs that improve the quality of life for rural residents. Another advantage is that rural sociology can help identify and address social problems that disproportionately affect rural areas, such as poverty, unemployment, and poor access to healthcare.

In the RAWEP students will learn and develop entrepreneurial skills and hands on training while working in village, industries and NGO. Students will learn about different activity that are carried out in KVK and CCARI.
